Pirelli continues to expand its range of premium products with the Winter Sottozero 3. Launched last month in Austria, the latest edition to Pirelli’s winter line-up guarantees top performance in wintry conditions. The tire’s safety, durability and grip were on display as a driving experience took over 400 European dealers between Seefeld, Austria and the Kuhtai pass, a route that climbs more than 2,000 meters.
The new Winter Sottozero 3 is an Ultra High Performance tire developed for premium segment cars with a medium to high engine capacity, designed to enhance the sporting characteristics of the cars to which it is fitted. Its profile has been optimized to guarantee a longer tire life thanks to a uniform footprint. The shoulder, by contrast, is more rounded to expel more water. The deep grooves on the surface also help to improve the dispersal of water.
Pirelli’s research laboratories have developed an innovative compound that – thanks to the use of specialized polymers that improve the mechanical, thermal and dynamic properties of the rubber – increases tire performance and road holding even on wet or icy surfaces. Backed by rigorous testing in the most extreme winter conditions throughout Italy, Austria, Sweden, Finland and New Zealand, the new Sottozero 3 continues to uphold Pirelli’s standards for safety, mileage and performance.
For the 2013-2014 winter season, the Winter Sottozero 3 will be available all over the world for wheels from 16 to 21 inches in 11 different runflat sizes.
